The Youngstown State women’s tennis team remained unbeaten in Horizon League play with an impressive win at the North Shore River Glen Tennis Center.
The Penguins (12-8, 5-0 HL) have won six straight dual matches. Milwaukee falls to 5-14 and 3-3.
YSU claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2, both by 6-4 scores. At No. 1, Marta Burak and Julianna Heino won while at No. 2, Annina Brendel and Nehel Sahni earned the victory.
At No. 1 singles, Burak earned the 90th singles win of her career beating Chelsea Bailey 6-2 and 6-3. Dominika Lackova remained perfect in her Horizon League career with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Hayley Marshall at No. 2. Brendel had the most impressive singles win of the day at No. 3 winning 6-0, 6-1 over Aerielle Pendleton. At No. 6, Sofia Macias Mendoza rebounded after dropping her first set 6-4 to Mardee Merar before winning the second 6-3 and in the third picked up an 11-9 win.

Silviu Mistreanu continued his strong play with a straight set win at No. 3. Misteanu defeated Nick Dykema by scores of 6-4, 6-3. At No. 2 singles, Hugo Morth dropped a three-set decision to Vukasin Teofanovic.
The Golden Eagles (10-8) won the two completed doubles matches and took four singles matches in straight sets. Marquette won at No. 3 doubles and clinched the point with a win at No. 1.

Wright State scored five runs in the first inning and got outstanding pitching from Luke Mamer, who went seven innings in his second victory of the season, allowing five hits and walking one while striking out five.
The Penguins, who won the series opener 6-5 on Friday evening, took a 1-0 lead with an unearned run in the first. Lorenzo Arcuri reached on an error, stole second and came in on a Josh Fitch single with two outs.
The Raiders went up 6-1 with a run in the second, and they scored another run in the fifth, two in the sixth and four more in the eighth.
Joe King, making the first conference start of his career, was charged with six runs, four of which were earned, on five hits and three walks in 11/3 innings.
Frank Califano and Matt Sullivan both had a pair of hits for the Penguins. Mark Fowler and Michael Timm had three hits apiece, and Wright State got 11 hits from the top four spots in its lineup.
