United Way plans its annual meeting

POLAND

United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley will host its annual 2014 meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday at The Lake Club, 1140 Paulin Road.

The event, sponsored by Talmer Bank and Trust, will celebrate the success of the 2014 campaign and milestones. Barbara Sykes, president of Ohio United Way, will be the keynote speaker. Top campaigns and volunteers will be recognized

Doors will open at 5 p.m. with a dinner buffet. The program will begin at 6.

DAR will celebrate

CANFIELD

Mahoning Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will observe its 122nd anniversary at noon Monday at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St. Members and guests are asked to arrive no later than 11:45.

Immediately after lunch, guest speaker Doris Gargas, DAR state membership chairman, will address chapter development and lineage research. The 2015 to 2017 slate of officers will be announced, and members new to the chapter during 2013 to 2015 will be installed.

Book group to meet

COLUMBIANA

Reflections book discussion group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Columbiana Women’s Club, 121 N. Main St., to discuss “The Light Between Oceans,” by M.L. Stedman.

The public is invited to visit the Reflections Book Discussion table at the club’s open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday.
