TST sponsors family conference April 24-25

Teen Straight Talk, a local organization dedicated to youths and families, is partnering with community leaders for the 2015 Strengthening the Family Conference, planned for April 24-25 at DiVieste Banquet Center, 754 N. River Road.

A fundraiser banquet will take place at 6 p.m. April 24 and feature guest speaker Bishop Joey Johnson, author of “God is Greater Than Family Mess.” Bishop Johnson is the founder and senior pastor of the House of the Lord Church in Akron.

He is known to balance an academic approach to Scripture with inspirational insight. The Warren City Wide Youth Choir, led by Pastor Todd Johnson, will provide musical entertainment.

A conference for adults and youths will begin with registration and breakfast at 8 a.m. April 25. After breakfast, Bishop Johnson, Mary Duke and a team of presenters will facilitate a panel discussion for adults on a variety of topics, including the conference topic, “Reviving the Hearts of our Youth.”

Facilitators for breakout sessions for the youths from age 10 to 18 will be Bishop Johnson, Minister Vince Peterson Jr. and Crystal Duke. Youths will participate in an interactive presentation.

Cost for the fundraiser dinner on April 24 is $35 per ticket, and the April 25 session is $15 per person. Sponsorship for youths to attend the Saturday conference are available.
