Austintown Senior Center, 100 Westchester Drive, has planned the following: Monday, active exercise at 8 a.m., 30 minutes with God, video class: Law and the Constitution, and senior spinning at 9, Piloxing, bingo, painting, quilting and beginner computer class at 10, Advisory Council meeting at 11:45, lunch and advanced computer class at noon and calligraphy class at 1 p.m.; Tuesday, active exercise at 8 a.m., men’s breakfast at 9, bingo, quilting and crocheting at 10, line dancing at 10:30, chair yoga and Windows computer class at 11:30, lunch at noon, class on candle meditation at 12:30 p.m. and AARP monthly meeting at 1; Wednesday, active exercise at 8 a.m., 30 minutes with God and blood pressure checks at 9, intermediate computer class, bingo, quilting and BP Express at 10, senior spinning at 10:30, Zumba at 11, advanced computer class at 11:30, discussion group and $3 pizza party at noon, and Grief 101, TOPS and deco-mesh wreath class at 1 p.m.; Thursday, active exercise at 8 a.m., wood carving and travelogue on ancient cities at 9, S.O.S. at 9:30, chair yoga, vets helping vets, quilting and crocheting at 10, video class on natural healing at 10:30, knitting at 11, and lunch and grocery bingo at noon; and Friday, 30 minutes with God at 8 a.m., video class on Skeptics American History at 9, senior spinning at 10, chair burlesque at 11, and trivia at noon. Guardian Angels of Ohio, a volunteer program of Trumbull County Probate Court, is looking for new volunteers. Angel volunteers receive training to become advocates who reach out as friends to seniors who may need a friendly phone call, a visit in a nursing home, or a visit at home. Angels also are involved in planning special events for seniors such as health fairs and Make a Difference day projects. Hubbard Senior Center, 220 W. Liberty St., will serve Hubbard-area senior citizens a hot meal at 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. For anyone who cannot come into the center, a meal will be delivered to their home. Donations are accepted for meals. Lighting the Way is a series of sessions on aging. It’s a free program to help seniors and their families cope with the many decisions that come with advanced age. The first session, Accessing Community Resources on Aging, will take place from 1 to 3:30 p.m. April 18 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2860 E. Market St., Warren. Lisa Solley, of the Area Agency on Aging, will lead the session and give information about PASSPORT, what it is and how it can help you with what you need. She will explain what every family needs to know about programs and services that are available. Afterward, representatives will discuss assessing needs for health care services, provision of meals at home, local senior centers, Veterans Affairs and moving to assisted living or long-term care. Light refreshments will be provided by area nursing care facilities. The series continues monthly through August at various locations. Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 N. Broad St., Canfield, announces its next Gathering Place, a senior day event at 11 a.m. Monday featuring a presentation on spring gardening issues and tips. Lunch will be served with an optional donation. This is a free community outreach social program offered to all senior citizens the second Monday of each month.
