Free seedling giveaway is Saturday in New Wilmington, Pa.
Staff report
NEW WILMINGTON, PA.
The Silk Road Market, 115 N. Market St., Unit 1, will host its seventh annual free tree seedling giveaway starting at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The first 75 people to arrive at the store will be invited to choose a seedling to take home for planting.
Available seedlings will include mountain ash, black tupelo and flowering dogwood, and trees average in size from 8 feet to 15 feet tall.
The seedlings are grown from seed that has been collected in Pennsylvania state forests by The Howard Nursery, a division of the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
The 2015 sale will be the first time Flowering Dogwood has been available in three years.
The program is offered to urge individuals to plant trees and celebrate the impact that even one tree can have on the environment.
