SWCD fish order deadline is Friday

CANFIELD
Mahoning Soil and Water Conservation District is selling fingerling-size fish for stocking lakes and ponds.
Interested individuals can purchase 100 fathead minnows for $7; 8- to 12-inch white amur for $15 each; 2- to 4-inch bluegill and 2- to 4-inch yellow perch for 80 cents each; and 2- to 3-inch bass, 2- to 4-inch shell crackers, 4- to 5-inch channel cat and 2- to 3-inch yellow perch for 85 cents.
The deadline for ordering is Friday, and pickup will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. April 23 at the Canfield Fairgrounds, 7265 Columbiana-Canfield Road.
Customers will need to bring a lined container filled with their own pond water on the day of pickup. Five to 10 gallons of water per 100 fish is required.
The white amur must be placed in a container with a lid or liner large enough to be tied at the top, and only two white amur to each 5 gallons of water will be permitted.
Other conservation materials available for sale include pond-safety kits, birdseed, birdhouses and birdfeeders.
