Tacketts in concert

CORTLAND

The Tacketts will present a concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Bible Church, 2878 Warren-Meadville Road, turn left off Elm Road.

The Tacketts debuted on radio in 2011. Sarah Tackett is a former Miss Ohio and talent award winner in the Miss America Pageant.

The Tacketts, tackett- music.com, have five CDs.

A nursery will be provided. A free-will offering will be taken.

Gospel concert

AUSTINTOWN

Limited Edition of Warren will perform at 6:30 p.m. April 19 at Austintown Community Church, 242 S. Canfield-Niles Road.

Admission is free; an offering will be accepted. The church is handicapped-accessible.

The group performs contemporary, traditional and bluegrass Gospel music.

Spring workshop

YOUNGSTOWN

New Grace Baptist Church, 909 Fairgreen Ave., will host its annual spring workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 18 on the topics, “Blacks in the Bible” and “Christian Ethics.”

Instructors will be Pastor Wayne Cox and the Rev. Christopher McCain of Christ Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland.

Registration will begin at 8 a.m. Donation of $15 will include lunch.

Bible study planned

YOUNGSTOWN

Faith Fellowship Church of God, 388 E. Midlothian Blvd., will start a new Bible study of the New Testament Book of Romans at 7 p.m. Sunday.

The Rev. Jonathan Mitchell, pastor, will be the instructor. Participants should take their Bible, pen and notebook.

Ministry anniversary

YOUNGSTOWN

New Beginnings Outreach Ministries, 2007 S. Schenley Ave., will celebrate its 15th anniversary during worship at 10:30 a.m. Sunday with guest speaker Pastor Dwight Dumas, founder of Commission to Pursue Reconciliation Inc.

“2015 The Year of the Lord’s Release!” is the theme. Melvin D. Trent, pastor and founder, and his wife, Julie, will be recognized.

A banquet will be at 5 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Boardman with guest speaker Pastor William Stallworth of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Berea. Banquet tickets are $28 for adults.

Groundbreaking

VIENNA

St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, 4453 Warren-Sharon Road, will break ground for a new church at 10:30 a.m. April 27. Attending will be Bishop George Murry of the Diocese of Youngstown, diocese and parish representatives, local dignitaries and state and government representatives.

The parish was established in 2010 when St. Vincent de Paul Church in Vienna and St. Bernadette Church in Masury merged.

The parish has raised $1 million toward the project.

Prophecy conference

CORTLAND

“Signs of the Times Prophecy” conference is planned from 1 to 6 p.m. April 18 at Doers of the Word Baptist Church, 14781 Sperry Road, Newbury, Ohio, and from 1 to 6 p.m. April 19 at Doers of the Word Baptist Church, 162 S. High St.

Refreshments will be from 5 to 6 p.m. at both events.

Speakers will be Pastor Ernie Sanders of the Voice of the Christian Resistance on “Signs of the Times Prophecy,” Pastor Derrick Noel of Perfect Peach Church on “The Pre-Tribulation Rapture” and John McTernan, co-founder of Cops for Christ, on Israel.
