Youngstown man gets prison sentence on drug and assault charges

YOUNGSTOWN — A Halleck Street man was sentenced to 21⁄2 years in prison in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court today on possession of heroin and felony assault charges.

Judge Shirley Christian sentenced Aaron Profanchik. He pleaded guilty to the charges March 19.

Profanchik was arrested after a traffic stop by Campbell police in September. Police said he pushed an officer and ran away, which is why he was charged with assault.

Police also said he had an ounce of heroin on him when he was arrested and more than $8,700 in cash police said was drug money.
