The Poland library offered a big Leprechaun Lollapalooza event, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in all of its glory on March 14. Offered at the event were crafts, food, songs, dances, scavenger hunts and more. Parents, children and grandparents came out to take part in Lollapalooza, dressing in green — some even went as far to dress up as leprechauns or lucky clovers for the upcoming holiday.
Amanda Kollar, assistant supervisor at the Poland library, helped run many parts to the event. New activity started frequently, keeping children busy going from one to the next. Kollar said she enjoys seeing everyone having so much fun at the library.
“It’s nice too because they get to see what we have to offer,” Kollar said. “Maybe they didn’t know about some of our collection.”
During the scavenger hunt, children grabbed their parents and set out to find everything listed to claim a St. Patrick’s Day prize upon its completion.
Some families appreciated the Irish music more than any other event.
Kathy Colaprete, a family member to a few participants in Lollapalooza, said that it’s nice to see so many children come to the event every year.
“Kids really love the music,” Colaprete said. “The library does a really nice job.”
Tammy Persing, mother to two boys who dressed as leprechauns, completed in the scavenger hunt and excitedly waited for the music and food to begin.
