On March 13 Poland Union Preschool had guests from Mill Creek Metroparks Farm, Barnyard Buddies.

Preschool students gathered in a half circle in the front of the room to not only learn about various farm animals, but also to experience seeing and touching a few in-person.

Logan Moff, instructor Kim Moff’s daughter, handled the animals while her mother presented students with a brief introduction about the animals they would be seeing and other animals they could visit if they came to Mill Creek Metroparks Farm.

“Kids get all excited,” Logan Moff said. “Hands on is the best way to learn.”

Introducing the first animal, a baby chicken, Kim Moff asked students what the technical term would be.

“A chicklet!” Matthew, a student in the class, excitedly yelled.

Unfortunately, Kim Moff had to inform him that a baby chicken, in fact, is called a chick, but she said she gets many students that think the same.

Other animals brought to the classroom included a kid — young goat — and a harlequin rabbit.
