Township officials are preparing to launch a three-year, $1 million road-resurfacing project to address conditions on some of the 55 miles of road the township maintains.

“Every single one of these is going to be done in the next three years. ... That’s our goal,” Trustee Eric Ungaro said at a meeting Wednesday.

The list has not yet been finalized, and trustees have not yet determined which roads will get done this year.

The tentative plan is to resurface:

Arrel Road

Quarry Road

Venloe Drive

Highland Avenue

Olde Winter Trail

Canterbury Lane

Clovermeade Avenue

Lee Run Road

Cliffview Drive

Apache Lane

Stewart Road

Diana Drive

Hilltop Drive

Camella Drive

Cobblers Run

Pawnee Place

Four Seasons Trail

Duncan Drive

Oak Drive

Christina Court

Windpoint Trail

Pueblo Way

Candy Woods Drive

Autumnwood Trail

Knollwood Avenue

Palmarie Drive

Blue Ridge Drive

Forest Hill Avenue

For many of the listed streets, the plan would be to resurface sections of the road.

In some cases the entire road would get done, with sections completed each year.

For example, the board discussed resurfacing Highland from state Route 170 to Blue Ridge Drive.

“We’ve traditionally been doing a mile or two a year — it just catches up with you,” Trustee Bob Lidle said.

Trustees plan to pursue Ohio Public Works Commission grant funding for about half of the project cost each year.

Any work done this year would not use grant funding, and funds have not yet been secured for the next two years.

Trustees estimated that the township would spend about $200,000 per year for the next three years.

The township’s overall budget for 2015 is $2.6 million.

Trustees identified Venloe, Highland, Canterbury and Olde Winter Trail as a few they likely will try to work on this year, with nothing set in stone.

The next step, officials said, will be to measure the sections of road they plan to include, get price estimates from the Mahoning County Engineer’s Office and then finalize the list at another meeting.

The goal is to go out to bid in May.
