Baby dies prior to Warren parents' scheduled Maury Povich show appearance

WARREN

Parents of the 8-month-old baby girl who died after being jammed between a mattress and wall in a Stamford, Conn. hotel early Wednesday had come to town from Warren to tape a segment of the Maury Povich television show that would reveal the paternity of the infant.

No criminal charges have been filed against the parents of the girl. An autopsy was completed Thursday on the child and ruled out physical abuse, sexual abuse and neglect as the causes for the death, but a determination of the cause of the baby's death is pending further study, Stamford Police Lt. Diedrich Hohn told the Stamford Advocate.

Hohn told the newspaper that the couple from Warren were in town to tape a segment of Povich's "The Maury Show," but would not say what the show was going to be about. He said that the segment which the 27-year-old mother and 25-year-old father were going to participate in was to be filmed on Wednesday, the day their baby was found dead.
