Phantoms earn share of Anderson Cup

The Youngstown Phantoms fell 5-4 to the Chicago Steel in Wednesday's shootout after rallying to tie the game after a 4-1 deficit.

The point earned for forcing overtime gives the Phantoms 82 and clinches a share of the regular-season champion title. Only Tri-City (78 points with two games remaining) can tie the Phantoms in the Anderson Cup race.

The Phantoms have two games remaining against Team USA — Friday in Ann Arbor, Mich., and Saturday at the Covelli Centre. Their magic number to win the Cup outright is one.

Phantoms co-owner Troy Loney says the Anderson Cup will be at the Covelli Centre on Saturday.
