Youngstown State University President Jim Tressel is the keynote speaker for the 10th annual Pinwheels for Prevention event at 9 a.m. April 15 at The Embassy, 5030 Youngstown-Poland Road.
Mahoning County Children Services and Akron Children’s Child Advocacy Center organized the event to raise awareness of child abuse and neglect in Mahoning County. A Community Spotlight Award is being presented to Making Kids Count. The event is free, but reservations are required by emailing patricia.amendolea@jfs.ohio.gov. by Wednesday.

The YWCA of Youngstown is offering two free health events during April, designated as Minority Health Month.
“Be Healthy, Be Active,” a program for youths, will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. April 15 at Chaney High School, Chaney Academy New Gym, 731 S. Hazelwood Ave. Included is information on weight management and obesity in youth, nutrition information, and cardio line dance. There also will be refreshments, door prizes and giveaways.
“You Are What You Eat ... and Exercise,” a health fair for women, will be from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 25 at the YWCA of Youngstown, 25 W. Rayen Ave. It includes information about weight management, a cardio exercise session, weight gain and its relationship with diseases, nutrition, and healthy meal preparation. Also included will be free chair massages, educational handouts, giveaways, door prizes and healthy food sampling.

Health insurance
People who owe or paid a penalty for not having health insurance in 2014 may still be able to enroll for 2015 without a penalty during a special enrollment period that ends April 30.

Ostomy product fair

A product fair featuring companies that specialize in medical supplies for ostomy patients will be from 6 to 7 p.m. April 14 in the Azalea Room at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, 8401 Market St., during the monthly meeting of the Youngstown Area Ostomy Support Group.
ConvaTec, Hollister and Coloplast are among companies that will be represented during the fair. For information, call 330-480-3440.
Social media tips
HOWLAND
Shepherd of the Valley is offering “10 Tips & Tricks of Social Media” at 2 p.m. Thursday at its Howland community, 4100 North River Road. The free seminar features Dr. Adam Earnheardt, chairman of Youngstown State University’s Department of Communications.
The interactive seminar focuses on social mediums such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and will address how to protect private information while using the Internet. Refreshments are included. Attendees may bring devices they use to access social media sites, such as phones, tablets or laptops.
