Mill Creek Golf Course looking for new restaurant operator after contract termination
BOARDMAN
Mill Creek Golf Course is looking for someone else to run its food and beverage operation after the park system terminated its contract with the previous operator of Hole 37 Grille.
Mill Creek MetroParks terminated its contract with Barry Dyngles Pub, citing a “failure to abide by the terms of the agreement,” executive director Aaron Young said.
Young said the breach of contract was that the restaurant was two months behind on rent.
Barry Dyngles’ contract with the park system began in June 2010, and a new three-year contract started in February 2014. Rent was $2,000 per month.
Barry Dyngles declined to comment.
The golf course in Boardman now is accepting applications from new operators. The operator would be responsible for food and beverages at the newly titled Hole 55 Grille, as well as providing drink and snack carts on the north and south courses.
“We’re hoping to have someone in there by May 1. I know that’s pretty aggressive, but our golf season is knocking on the door,” golf director Brian Tolnar said, adding that leagues start that week.
The park leadership says customers can expect something similar to what the restaurant was doing before.
“We’re looking really for the same thing. Just high-quality customer service and high-quality food,” Young said.
“It’s just been what I call ‘golf food’ — hamburgers, hot dogs — just the basics,” Tolnar said. “But we’re open to whatever someone would want to do.”
The operator also would be responsible for serving during golf outings.
“We think it’s a very lucrative opportunity, especially with the outings we have,” Tolnar said. He said the course gets about 30 outings each year, and about 30 leagues play there.
The north course opened for play Monday. The south course will open later this month.
Proposal application forms are available at www.millcreekmetroparks.org/request-for-proposal/. They are due by 4 p.m. April 16 in person at the Mill Creek MetroParks Administrative Office, 7574 Columbiana-Canfield Road, or via email to brian@millcreekmetroparks.org.
