Man, woman charged with leaving infant at McDonald’s in Elyria
ELYRIA, Ohio (AP) — An infant’s parents have been charged with child endangering after police say both refused to take custody of their 3-month-old daughter last week and the father then left her at a McDonald’s outside Cleveland.
Rachel Jaajaa, 22, and Aaron Tate, 29, were arrested Monday. Police in Elyria say Jaajaa left with a co-worker after her McDonald’s shift ended April 3 and found Tate in the parking lot with the infant in a car seat.
Police say Jaajaa refused to take the baby because she had plans. Tate then left the child in McDonald’s and drove off, prompting employees to call police.
An officer found the parents later arguing in front of a Burger King. Jaajaa’s sister is now caring for the child.
Tate declined to comment. Jaajaa didn’t return phone calls.
