Lecture on historic downtown Salem
CANFIELD
The Canfield Historical Society will present “Salem: Historic Downtown 1860-1920,” a free lecture by Ginger Grill, at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Bond House, 44 W. Main St.

The Salem Downtown Historic District covers approximately 95 acres bounded by Vine, Ohio, East Pershing and South Ellsworth streets and Sugar Tree Alley. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in December 1995. Founded and settled by the Friends (aka “Quakers”) religious group in 1806, the city was active in the anti-slavery movement of the early- to mid-1800s.
Vendors sought for treasure sale

Branch 22 Saxon Ladies will sponsor a Trunk and Treasure Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road. Admission is free. Crafters and vendors are being sought. Parking-lot spaces are available for $10 per space, and indoor tables are $25 (table will be supplied).
