Man apologizes from prison for setting Ohio mosque fire
TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — A former Marine from Indiana who’s in prison for starting a fire inside an Ohio mosque is asking for forgiveness.
Randy Linn sent a letter of apology to members of the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo. The Blade newspaper in Toledo reports that Linn wrote that he was sorry for the damage he caused and said that forgiveness from members of the mosque would bring him peace of mind.
The president of the Islamic Center says most members have moved on. She says she sent Linn a response telling him that she accepted his apology.
The September 2012 fire caused more than $1 million in damage to the mosque.
Linn, who’s from St. Joe, Ind., is in a California federal prison, where he is two years into his 20-year sentence.
