Emergency meeting tonight on spill in Vienna Twp.

VIENNA

Vienna Township trustees will have an emergency meeting at 6 p.m. today at Mathews High School cafeteria. The meeting is in response to and to provide information on the oil and brine spill on Sodom Hutchings Thursday night.

A representative of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources is expected to attend. Crews worked over the weekend to clean the spill.

After the emergency meeting, trustees will have their regular meeting at 7 p.m.

3-car crash on I-76 causes injuries

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported multiple injuries in a three-car crash on Interstate 76 East late Sunday night in Milton Township.

The crash happened about 9:30 p.m.

Heroin overdoses surge in Trumbull

WARREN

The Trumbull Ashtabula Group Law Enforcement Task Force has reported 19 cases of heroin overdoses in Trumbull County over the past week.

Among the overdoses, six people died as of Friday, according to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner. Three more deaths were reported Saturday.

A private meeting among area task forces is scheduled for today.

Highway Patrol seeks applicants

COLUMBUS

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is accepting applications for a trooper. Individuals interested in a career in law enforcement can apply by visiting careers.ohio.gov.

Applicants must be United States citizens between 20-34 years of age with a high school diploma or GED and valid operator’s license. Applicants must also be Ohio residents upon graduation.

The deadline to apply is April 30.
