Eastgate accepting ARC grant applications

Eastgate Regional Council of Governments is accepting pre- applications for fiscal year 2016 Appalachian Regional Commission grants.

All applicants must attend a pre-application workshop at 1:30 p.m. April 17. To receive a pre-application, call Eastgate at 330-779-3800.

Projects funded under this program must meet one or more of these goals: increasing job opportunities and per capita income in Appalachia to reach parity with the nation; strengthen the capacity of the people of Appalachia to compete in the global economy; develop and improve Appalachia’s infrastructure to make the region more economically competitive; or build the Appalachian Development Highway System to reduce Appalachia’s isolation.

Eligible applicants include political subdivisions (counties, cities or villages), educational institutions (school districts and vocational school districts, colleges and universities), and nonprofit organizations (community improvement corporations, social service agencies).

Types of projects eligible for funding include those that help communities create and retain businesses and jobs, helping communities to develop an educated, skilled workforce, and supporting the development and improvement of infrastructure, telecommunications/broadband or energy grants.
