Receives Eagle award

Joseph Verostko, 18, son of Joseph and Susan Verostko of Hubbard, has received his Eagle Scout award. His court-of-honor ceremony was March 28.

Verostko began his Scouting career as a Tiger Cub at age 6. He achieved his Arrow of Light Award, Cub Scouting’s highest honor, at 11, and became a Boy Scout at 12. He has earned 29 merit badges and has attended summer camps at Seven Ranges, Camp Stigwandish and Camp Mountain Run in Dubois, Pa.

For his Eagle Scout service project, Verostko scraped and re-painted the swing sets at Harding Park in Hubbard.

He is a senior at Trumbull Career and Technical Center in the fabric-services program. He has been a trumpet player in the Hubbard High School band for four years. He is a Special Olympics athlete and participates in golf, basketball, track and swimming. He is an active member of St. Patrick Church in Hubbard.
