INDEPENDENCE, Ohio
Federal marshals are preparing to take the house of a former Northeast Ohio politician serving 28 years in federal prison on corruption convictions.
The Northeast Ohio Media Group reports that U.S. marshals plan to take control Monday of former Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora’s home in the Cleveland suburb of Independence.
The 59-year-old former Democratic party leader was convicted in 2012 of 30 federal counts related to accepting bribes in exchange for hiring people and arranging county contracts.
His agreement with prosecutors called for his wife to move out of the home six months after the appeals process ended.
The U.S. Supreme Court in October rejected Dimora’s request to review his convictions.
Authorities plan to sell the home, with Dimora’s wife allowed to keep half of the proceeds.
