Youngstown Alumni Chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. will present in concert Youngstown native and 2015 Grammy nominee Lawrence Brownlee. Accompanying him will be Damien Sneed for the recital “Spiritual Sketches.”

The event will begin at 6 p.m. April 19 in the Ford Family Recital Hall of the Eleanor Beecher Flad Pavilion in the DeYor Centre, 260 W. Federal St. A VIP meet- and-greet reception will follow the performance in the Spanish Room of Powers Auditorium.

General admission tickets cost $40, and VIP tickets are $60. To buy tickets call the box office at 330-744-0264. Sorority and fraternity members have VIP tickets.

Brownlee graduated from East High School in 1991 and was involved with musical productions in Youngstown Schools and with Dr. Carol Baird and the Youngstown Connection.

“Spiritual Sketches,” a non-operatic performance, takes its name from the recording of spirituals that Brownlee and Sneed recently released as part of the Lincoln Center’s American Songbook series recorded by PBS Television.

Brownlee, America’s most in-demand tenor, is internationally renowned for his bel canto repertoire. His latest recording earned him a Grammy nomination.

Delta Sigma Theta and Kappa Alpha Psi are service organizations with long-standing commitment to education, scholarship, and public and community service.
