Book group to discuss Ishmael Beah work

SALEM

Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., will have its next Adult Book Discussion Group from 7 to 8 p.m. April 28 in the library’s Quaker Room.

The topic of discussion will be “Radiance of Tomorrow” by Ishmael Beah.

The story is set in the village of Imperi on the post-Civil-War country of Sierra Leone. Returning villagers including lifelong friends Benjamin and Bockarie hope to build their hometown into a new community, but the crime and brutality challenge their determination.

The book discussion is open to the public, and registration is not required. For copies of the book visit the library’s Adult Services Department.

Alzheimer’s is topic of book to be signed

Local author Maria Ciletti, RN, a Niles native, will sign her new book, which is for the caregivers of Alzheimer’s patients. She has been a caregiver herself.

The book is titled “I Have To Leave You Now: A Survival Guide for Caregivers of Loved Ones with Alzheimer’s Disease.”

The book signing is sponsored by The McKinley Library as part of Library Week. It will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. April 15 at the McKinley Birthplace Museum, 40 S. Main St.
