Hospital’s ball raises $43,000
CANFIELD
Salem Regional Medical Center had its fifth annual “Hearts and Stars Ball: A Celebration of Champions” on March 21 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center.
The event, for which 260 supporters gathered, helped to raise more than $43,000 for SRMC’s cancer care expansion project.
The capital campaign for the project continues.

Relatives raising children will be topic
NEW CASTLE, PA.
A support group for grandparents and relatives raising children will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 4 at Third Presbyterian Church 1315 E. Washington St. A light dinner will be served.
Penn State Extension, Lawrence County and Challenges: Options on Aging are the sponsors.
Atty. Ryan Long will present the program. He is an expert in family law and will provide kinship families with an update on kinship rights and responsibilities. He also will answer questions from the audience.
Advance registration is requested, and children are welcome.

Women Hand In Hand announces fundraiser

The 29th annual fundraiser for Women Hand In Hand will take place at 10:30 a.m. May 2 at Antone’s Banquet Center, 8578 Market Street.
The speaker will be Dr. Lashale Puge, assistant professor at Youngstown State University’s geography department. A guest will be YSU President Jim Tressel.
Tickets cost $30 and are available from any WHIH member or by calling 330-716-4020.
WHIH helps mothers complete their college education at several of the local colleges and universities.
All proceeds go toward scholarships to help WHIH recipients. The scholarships also are supported by gifts to the organization.
Contributions are welcome from anyone unable to attend the luncheon but wanting to offer support.
