County election boards open until 9 p.m. Monday for May primary voter registration

YOUNGSTOWN — County election boards will be open to 9 p.m. Monday, the last day to register for the primary, even though local election officials don’t expect more than a handful to show up.

Also, local election officials aren’t anticipating much traffic when early voting starts Tuesday.

“Usually in this kind of election we get very few” people who register on the last day, said Joyce Kale-Pesta, Mahoning County Board of Elections director. “Registration has been a very quiet so far.”
