POLAND

Winning pitcher Adam Knight (1-0) allowed two hits in five innings of shutout ball. Padraig O’Shaughnessy hits a three-run triple in the first inning. Jared Burkert’s three hits included a double whick Ricky Svetlak had two hits. For the Irish, Vito Petrillo had two hits.

Niles 9, Struthers 1

STRUTHERS

Garrett Pitts and Murphy Miller each had two hits for the Red Dragons. Jaret Johnson tossed a three-hitter, striking out eight and walking noe. For the Wildcats, John Medvic, Brandon Cortez and Trent Stocker had singles.

Lakeview 5, Southeast 0

PALMYRA

Andrew Grove and Adam Neff combined on a two-hit shutout as the Bulldogs beat the Pirates. Grove went four innings for the win, striking out seven and walking three. Neff went three innings and struck out two for a save. Chris Romano singled, doubled and drove in two runs for Lakeview (1-0). Grove, Brendan Jones and P.J. Morvay each had two hits. One of Grove’s hits was a double. Southeast is now 0-2.

Girard 14, Liberty 1

LIBERTY

Kyle Harris went 4-for-5 and Kyle Tariot singled, doubled and drove in four runs as the Indians (2-0, 2-0 All-America Conference) crushed the Leopards (0-2, 0-2) for the second time this week. The teams played at Girard on Monday. Harris struck out 10 and gave up just two hits in five innings. Austin DiGregory singled twice, doubled and drove in three runs for the Indians. Christian Bello also had a double for Girard. The Indians host Middlefield Cardinal today.

East Palestine 18, Leetonia 1

LEETONIA

Blaze Chamberlain hit a three-run homer and singled twice and Sam Yarosz doubled twice and scored four runs as the Bulldogs dominated. East Palestine (3-0) ended the game with a 10-run fifth inning. Marshall Huddleston got the win with three innings of work. He struck out four and walked one. The Bulldogs host Mineral Ridge today.

Campbell 19, East 5

YOUNGSTOWN

Senior Stephan Elash had three hits, stole two bases and scored twice for the Red Devils (2-0). Freshman Ian Sewell also had three hits and scored twice. Sophomore Ignatius Horvath earned his first varsity win, striking out four and allowing 1 run. East was led by Brandon Jackson who had a hit. The Red Devils travel to Leetonia today.

LOUISVILLE

Jarrod Schopp had two hits and Evan Vernier and Robby Kostiuk each had two RBIs for the Knights (2-0). Kostiuk pitched into sixth inning for the victory.

Lisbon 4, United 3

HANOVERTON

Colin Sweeney led the Blue Devils with two doubles and a RBI. Dave Toot also had two hits while Avery Andric and Bailey McCullough each doubled. McCullough drove in two runs. Winning pitcher Noah Barnes struck out 11 in allowing three hits and three runs in 61⁄3 innings.

John Clegg had two hits and Wyatt Larimer doubled to lead the Blue Devils’ offense. Walker Marlowe relieved I. Hames in the fifth inning to earn the victory. For the Clippers, M. Weidner and A. Saverko each had two hits while Dylan Davin drove in two runs.

Michael Turner had three hits and two RBIs and Lucas Nasonti had two hits and three RBIs as the Golden Flashes beat the Rams. Chris Miller pitched a three-hitter and struck out nine for the victory. S. Thomas had two hits and two RBIs and Joe Batcho drove in three runs for Champion. Nick Ferguson had two hits for Mineral Ridge.

Ursuline 9, Boardman 6

BOARDMAN

Megan Ross, Chloe Cruz and Jordyn Kenneally each had three hits as the Irish (2-0) beat the Spartans. Cruz doubled twice and drove in a run and Keneally’s hits included a double and 3 RBIs. Ross also had a double. Kenneally (2-0) scattered nine hits and struck out 10. The Spartans (0-2) were led by Anna Saxton, who went 4-for-4 with a double and four RBIs. Miyah Mitchum added two hits.

Lakeview 5, Jefferson 4

JEFFERSON

With the score tied at 4, Sam Marino singled to lead off the top of the seventh, stole second and went to third on a passed ball. She scored the eventual winning run on Tori Wells’ single. Marino ripped three hits, including a double, and Avery Steiner and Wells each had two as the Bulldogs (1-1) avenged a season-opening loss to the Falcons. Steiner struck out two and allowed only one earned run for the victory. Emily Smock doubled and drove in two runs for the Falcons (1-1).

AUSTINTOWN

Maddie Everhart’s two hits included two doubles. Alex Franken and Mckenzie Luknis each had two hits. Luknis and Emily Haggerty each drove in two runs. For the Tigers, Reann Litz had two hits and drove in a run.

Mathews 7,

McDonald, 11 innings

VIENNA

Mathews senior Cheyenne Eggens had 24 strikeouts over 11 innings to earn a win over McDonald. Maddy Williams won it for the Mustangs with a RBI-double in the 11th.

Fotini Koullias and Niki Manias had two singles as the Red Devils beat the Panthers.

Hubbard 2, Edgewood 0

HUBBARD

Addy Jarvis struck out 13 and Annie Zagorec hit a sixth-inning home run to power the Eagles (2-0) over the Warriors. Zagorec and Caitlin O’Hara each had two hits and Lea Munnell drove in Hubbard’s other run, also in the sixth.

Kristyn Svetlak and Ally Deemer combined to toss a three-hitter. Aidrey Schweers hit two triples while Jenna Schettler had one. Deemer, Amanda Kabetso and Amanda Wire doubled. Schletter and Kabetso each drove in three runs. For the Raiders, Alexis Stano had two hits.

BEAVER TOWNSHIP

Winning pitcher Taylor Helon (2-0) struck out eight batters and walked none for the Raiders (2-0). Codi Taylor’s three hits drove in two runs and she scored three times. Madison Weaver hit two doubles and drove in four runs while Selicia Gaeta tripled and drove in two runs. For the Bluejasy (0-1), Michaelena Terranova had one of their three singles.

Winning pitcher Maddie Macklin (1-0) had four hits including a homer and double for the Clippers (2-0). She drove in two runs. Madison Roessler’s three hits included two doubles. She also drove in two runs. Elise Hammond had two singles. For the Blue Devils (0-2), Aleah Hughes homered and drove in two runs with her two hits. Maddie Kreitzburg and Abby Hemphill each had two hits, with Kreitzburg driving in two runs.

STRUTHERS

The Red Dragons outslugged the Wildcats in eight innings. Freshman Khaylah Brown and senior Emily Rosen paced the Struthers offense with two hits each. Both players also walked twice. Rosen scored three runs and Brown scored twice.
