WARREN

The inaugural High School Music Video Challenge, sponsored by The Vindicator and Vindy.com, will come to a conclusion tonight when the winner is announced.

It will all happen at Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave. NW, starting at 8 p.m. Admission is $5 for students and $7 for adults, at the door.

The four finalists are Warren G. Harding High School, Warren; Girard High School, Girard; South Range High School, North Lima; and Fitch High School, Austintown. Online voting at Vindy.com ends at 4 p.m. today.

Before this week’s finals round, the contest had three weekly rounds, with a winner selected for each by popular vote at vindy.com and by a panel of judges. The weekly winners were Harding, Girard and South Range, with Fitch added as the wild-card entry.

A total of 11 Mahoning Valley schools competed by producing a video set to the song “I’d Like to Get to Know You” by local rock band J.D. Eicher and the Goodnights.

The videos were judged in three criteria: quality of the video, adherence to the anti-bullying theme, and engagement of the entire school community.

JD Eicher and the Goodnights will perform at tonight’s event. Eicher said he was impressed with the entries.

“The videos and students have truly blown me away,” he said. “It has been so exciting to see all of the effort, creativity and fun that went into this project, focused on anti-bullying. To be a part of such a good thing has meant the world to me.”
