City police probe man's shooting on the North Side

YOUNGSTOWN — A Tampa Avenue man was shot in the chest at about 9:45 p.m. on the North Side.

Jazzmen Blackmon, 30, is being treated at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Reports said a woman flagged down police who were called to Dupont and Robinwood avenues for a shooting that her husband had been shot.

Report's said Blackmon's wife told officers she and her husband and children were visiting her mother in the 2700 block of Robinwood Avenue when a car pulled up and someone inside the car fired several shots, hitting Blackmon.

However, reports said the wife changed her story at the hospital, saying that Blackmon was arguing with his mother and Blackmon's stepfather shot him.

Police found a .38-caliber revolver near the shooting scene with six empty shell casings in the cylinder, reports said.
