YOUNGSTOWN

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources issued four horizontal-drilling permits last week, none of them in the Mahoning Valley. There were 1,867 permits issued through March 28. There are 1,414 wells drilled and 834 producing. The rig count is 27.

Automobile Dealers Association elections

YOUNGSTOWN

At the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio Inc.’s recent annual meeting, Chuck Eddy, of Bob & Chuck Eddy’s Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge, was re-elected president for 2015-16; Tom Cole, of Cole-Valley Cadillac, was re-elected vice president; and Tom Levak, of Mark Thomas Ford, was re-elected treasurer.

Newly elected trustees are Russell Banks, of R.D. Banks Chevrolet in Champion, and Bob Davis, of Fairway Ford in Canfield.

Cafaro Foundation donates $100,000 to United Way

The Cafaro Foundation donated $100,000 to the United Way of Trumbull County, it was announced Tuesday.

The funds will go to 22 charities supported by the United Way of Trumbull County.

The foundation is the charitable arm of the Cafaro Co. that was established in memory of William M. Cafaro, the founder of the real-estate development and management company.

Leases signed at World Trade Center

NEW YORK

A financial-services company and a technology firm have signed five-year leases at New York City’s One World Trade Center.

The Durst Organization and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey announced Tuesday that Tinypass and Casablanca Capital LLC will move into the skyscraper.

Tinypass creates e-commerce software that helps online publishers sell their content through paywalls or other means. It has leased 4,936 square feet on the 46th floor of the tower.

Casablanca Capital is an investment advisory firm that pursues activist strategies. The firm has leased 2,488 square feet, also on the 46th floor.

Anti-censorship group: China behind attacks on US sites

BEIJING

A group that helps Internet users in China see blocked websites says Chinese authorities are behind cyberattacks against the group’s site and a U.S.-based Web resource for programmers that hosts some of the group’s data.

The anti-censorship group Greatfire.org said in a statement that its analysis shows Chinese authorities carried out denial-of-service attacks that have intermittently shut down San Francisco-based Github over the past week. Greatfire.org said it has mirrored some of its content on Github repositories, and that the data was the target of the attacks.
