A Trumbull County grand jury Tuesday indicted Timothy W. Adkins, 30, of Prentice Road Northwest, Champion, on a burglary charge.

He’s accused of breaking into his neighbor’s house in January. He faces a possible eight-year prison term if convicted.

Champion police were called to 476 Prentice Road at 4:17 p.m. Jan. 26 for a suspicious-person complaint coming from neighbors across the street, who said Adkins came into their house and into the family room, took off his slippers, placed a pencil on the floor, then left as the caller yelled at him to get out.

The caller, a 48-year-old woman, said she didn’t know Adkins, who was carrying a Bible.

Adkins walked out of the house, took off all of his clothes, put the Bible on the ground, then walked home, she said.

When officers went to Adkins’ door, he was fully clothed and let them in. Officers could smell burned marijuana, and Adkins told them he had been smoking marijuana and admitted going across the street, walking inside and taking off his slippers, but he said he “has no idea why he did any of that.”

Adkins was taken to Valley- Care Trumbull Memorial Hospital for evaluation before going to jail.
