224/11 lane reductions moved up due to weather concerns
CANFIELD — Officials from the Ohio Department of Transportation will stripe U.S. Route 224 tonight in preparation of one lane traffic each direction 6 a.m. tomorrow.
On Tuesday, ODOT had announced that it would be one lane restrictions for travel beginning Friday, but due to weather concerns of rain, the project was moved up one day.
“As far as the rain goes, they can’t do the striping when it rains,” said Justin Chesnic, ODOT District 4 spokesman. “Striping is very important to tell people where to go.”
This means that there will be one lane of travel in each direction on U.S. 224 until the expected completion in October. The $6.5 million project includes the replacement and widening of the 224 bridge over state Route 11 and the widening of Raccoon Road.
There will also be lane restrictions on Route 11 under 224 as the work is done.
