Adoption event for dog-rescue agency

AUSTINTOWN

A bake sale and adoption event, presented by Legacy Dog Rescue, will take place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Family Video, 4385 Kirk Road. Homemade baked goods will be available, as well as some dogs in need of a home. Legacy just assumed responsibility for a 6-month-old puppy, which had been tossed from a moving vehicle and will require two surgeries to correct its front right leg. All proceeds from the bake sale will go toward the dog’s surgery. Those who would like to bake for the sale can contact Legacy_Paula@aol.com.

Rubino vocal studio to present concert

YOUNGSTOWN

The Jewish Community Center, 505 Gypsy Lane, will present a concert by the Liz Rubino vocal school titled “Live from Las Vegas” at noon Nov. 6 in the multi-purpose room. The students will perform songs by Las Vegas headliners, including Louis Prima, Bette Midler, Celine Dion, Marie Osmond and Bobby Darin.

Tickets are $10 ($12 after Nov. 3). The performance includes lunch. Call the bursar’s office at 330-746-3250, ext. 195.

First lady on ‘Chew’

WASHINGTON

Michelle Obama is making her debut on the ABC daytime talk show “The Chew.” The network says a taped segment featuring the first lady talking about school nutrition and the benefits of cooking at home will air Friday.

She’s joining co-hosts Mario Batali, Michael Symon, Carla Hall, Clinton Kelly and Daphne Oz in their kitchen to discuss both issues.
