Mount Union 63, Marietta 7

ALLIANCE

Mount Union won in a romp before a packed house at Mount Union Stadium. Purple Raiders (3-0) standout quarterback Kevin Burke tossed five touchdown passes in the win. Three of the scoring tosses went to Roman Namdar, while Taurice Scott hauled in a 26-yard scoring touchdown. Mount Union led 50-0 at halftime.

Tiffin 23, Malone 21

TIFFIN

Tiffin University kicker Tomislav Derezic connected on a 50-yard field goal with eight minutes left to that turned out to be the difference for the Dragons. Malone University was intercepted on its final drive to seal the win with an interception. Tiffin (2-2, 2-2 GLIAC) finished with 400 total yards, including 301 through the air. Malone (0-4, 0-4 GLIAC) had a balanced attack with 182 passing and 148 rushing.

Ohio Dominican 26, Walsh 8

CANTON

Ohio Dominican University rolled up 430 yards in a 26-8 win over Walsh. Mark Miller completed 22 of 33 passes and Brandon Schoen rushed for 129 yards for the Panthers (4-0, 4-0 GLIAC). Walsh (1-3, 1-3 GLIAC) struggled moving the football with 209 total yards of offense. Tonn completed 15 of 26 passes for 160 yards and three interceptions. Anthony Schrock caught five passes for 65 yards and Justin Keith led the rushing attack with 51 yards.

John Carroll 45, Baldwin Wallace 7

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS

John Carroll outgained Baldwin Wallace 509-215 to tie the all-time series between the two teams. The Yellow Jackets (1-2, 0-2 OAC) were led on offense by junior quarterback Tyler Moeglin, who completed 11 of 28 passes for 113 yards. No. 8 John Carroll’s senior quarterback Mark Meyers completed 22 of 34 passes for 374 yards and five touchdowns. Marshall Howell caught five passes for 112 yards and two TDs.

Wittenberg 48, Oberlin 10

OBERLIN

Wittenberg won its 15th straight North Coast Athletic Conference game. The Tigers dominated all phases of the game, outgaining the Yeomen 552 to 224. Zack Jenkins completed 17 of 21 passes for 215 yards with two touchdowns for Wittenberg (2-1, 2-0). Sean Gary rushed 20 times for 80 yards with two TDs. Will Stocker came off the bench to gain 77 yards on 13 carries.

Wooster 39, Hiram 24

WOOSTER

Sean Hackel led the Wooster with 27 carries for 205 yards and a touchdown in a win over Hiram. Richard Barnes threw for 257 yards for the Fighting Scots (2-1, 2-0 NCAC). Freshman Danny Robinson rushed for 139 yards for Hiram College (2-2, 1-2 NCAC). Senior quarterback Robert Partridge was 20-for-47 for 247 yards and a touchdown.

Charleston 28, Notre Dame College 14

SOUTH EUCLID

Marvin Elam ran for 160 yards and a touchdown on 34 carries and John Knox threw for a pair of scores for Charleston in a battle of Mountain East Conference unbeatens. Knox completed 11 of 25 passes for 135 yards and added 33 yards on 14 carries Saturday for the Golden Eagles (4-0, 3-0 Mountain East). Ray Russ ended up with 240 yards on 23 of 44 passing and two interceptions for the Falcons (3-1, 3-1).

Case Western Reserve 23, Thiel 16

CLEVELAND

Senior quarterback Billy Beecher threw a pair of touchdowns, including the game-winning 23-yarder to freshman wide receiver Luke DiFrancesco with 1:08 remaining. Beecher finished 16-of-29 for 174 yards and added 34 rush yards for the Spartans (2-1, 2-1 PAC). The touchdown was the first of DiFrancesco’s career.

Carnegie Mellon 22, Geneva 21

PITTSBURGH

Carnegie Mellon University defeated Geneva College 22-21 in its home opener to earn its first win of the season. The Tartans (1-2, 1-2 PAC) forced five turnovers in the win. The Golden Tornadoes (1-3, 0-2 PAC) started the game with a 15-yard touchdown reception by Josh Guiser from Aaron Channing. They then gave up 22 straight points to the Spartans, who held on for victory despite being outgained 453 to 176.

Thomas More 49, Westminster 6

CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY.

Thomas More College senior running back Domonique Hayden set two records for the No. 20 Saints. Hayden set a school single-game rushing record with 336 yards and also set the school career rushing record in the win. He now has 4,788 career rushing yards. Thomas More (3-1, 2-0 PAC) never trailed in the game and out-gained Westminster 623 to 263. Paul Columbo had 127 passing yards for the Titans (0-4, 0-2 PAC).

Grand Valley State 66, Lake Erie 28

ALLENDALE, MI

Grand Valley State found the offensive with 640 total yards in a 66-28 romp Saturday against Lake Erie. The running back tandem of Chris Robinson (88 on eight carries), Michael Ratay (81 on nine) and Kirk Spencer (143 on 15) all had season-best games. Lake Erie (1-3) was held to to 357 yards, well below its 537-yard average.
