Jennings offers 10-mile nature hike Oct. 11

SLIPPERY ROCK, PA.
People will have a chance to view fall foliage, breathtaking vistas of Lake Arthur and the diversity of Pennsylvania’s woodlands during a 10-mile hike with the staff of Jennings Environmental Education Center along the Glacier Ridge Trail from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 11.
Participants are to meet at the center, located at 2951 Prospect Road, and should bring plenty of water, snacks and a lunch.
In some locations, the trail can be challenging, so participants are to dress appropriately and wear proper footwear. People must be able to walk at least 2 miles per hour for the entire distance. Registration is required by Friday either by calling 724-794-6011 or online at www.apps.dcnr.state.pa.us/Calendar/.
Part of the North Country National Scenic Trail system, Glacier Ridge Trail passes through the area’s glacial landscape and is a natural corridor between the center and Moraine State Park. During the hike, participants will discover the multitude of changes occurring within the fall forest and learn the history of the land.
The center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and on weekends as scheduled. The trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset for hiking and other related activities.
