Mooney rolls past Lake Catholic for fourth straight win

Senior running back C.J. Amill carried 11 times for 105 yards and a touchdown and Cardinal Mooney rolled past Mentor Lake Catholic 31-6 on Saturday.

Anthony Gill added 60 yards on 10 carries with a touchdown, Kentucky recruit Jordan Jones had a two-yard TD run and Andrew Armstrong returned an interception 55 yards for another score for the Cardinals (4-1), who have won four straight games since an opening loss to Philadelphia power Imhotep.

Youngstown State recruit Zak Kennedy added a 30-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to complete the scoring. Jon Saadey ran for 31 yards and completed 4 of 13 passes for 41 yards, including two to Jack Reider for 37 yards.

The Cardinals held Lake Catholic (1-4) to just 182 total yards.

Mooney, which was ranked seventh in Division IV in the latest Associated Press poll, will play Lakewood St. Edward on Friday.

After an open date next week, the Cardinals finish with games at Canisius (N.Y.), Ursuline (at Stambaugh Stadium) and Austintown Fitch.
