Family dinner honors Grubers for 50th mark

Jack and Dorothy Gruber of Poland were honored for their 50th wedding anniversary at a family dinner at Springfield Grille. They renewed their vows earlier at Holy Family Church and celebrated on a Mediterranean cruise.

The former Dorothy Ruggiero married Mr. Gruber on Aug. 22, 1964, at St. Rose Church in Girard.

They have three children, Neil Gruber of Poland, Kelli (John) Anderson of Canfield and Dr. Brian (Traci) Gruber of New Castle, Pa. They also have five grandchildren, Lauren, Alyssa and Kyle Anderson and Jacob and Abigail Gruber.

Mrs. Gruber was an X-ray technician. Mr. Gruber earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Youngstown State University and a Ph.D. in metallurgy from Kennedy Western University. He retired from Wheatland Tube Co., where he was director of technical services. He serves as president of the Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
