BOARDMAN

Kenneth and Elizabeth Garver of Boardman will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary Oct. 1.

They have three children, Karen Rohrer of Bowling Green, Ky.; Barbara Lynn Shipe of Auburn, Ind.; and Stan Garver of Cary, N.C. The couple have seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Garver was a partner with his father and brother in a well-known Boardman farm until the 1970s. He then worked as an industrial engineer at Youngstown Sheet & Tube. In his retirement, he has been active in peace organizations and disaster relief. He has designed tools, machines and novelties to benefit various human service organizations.

Mrs. Garver is a homemaker who raised their children along with helping with farm responsibilities. For many years she served as treasurer for the Youngstown Chapter of Church Women United, the Woodworth Community Park and the Woodworth Church of the Brethren.

She also is a skilled seamstress who won many awards at the Canfield Fair for her quilting handiwork. After her children left for college, Mrs. Garver served as a foster parent for nine years for 13 infants awaiting adoption.

The Garvers have lived their whole lives in the Woodworth community and have been active members of the Church of the Brethren since their baptisms.
