Run Y-Town 10-miler set for Sunday

The second annual Run Y-Town 10-miler will be held Sunday.
The race begins and ends in front of Second Sole on Rt. 224 and runs through Mill Creek Park.
Proceeds benefit Alzehimer’s research, with last year’s race raising $1,500 for the Alzheimer’s Association and an additional $1,500 for the Vista Care Center.

YSU baseball to play exhibition Sunday

The Youngstown State baseball team will play Team Ontario at Eastwood Field Sunday at 1 p.m. The teams are scheduled to play 14 innings. Admission is free.
Richendollar wins Great Lakes lifting title

Brian Richendollar of Boardman won his weight class at the National Physique Committee Great Lakes bodybuilding event on Sept. 15. Richendollar qualified for the national competition and has a chance to earn his pro card. He is competing in Columbus today for the Mr. Ohio title. Richendollar owns Steel Valley Fitness in Struthers.
Badger remains unbeaten in conference

Haley White scored three goals, Chloe Willams scored and Izabella Armstrong had five saves as Badger defeated Bristol 4-0 Friday night in Northeastern Athletic Conference play. Taylor Kramer, Stacey Elser, April Larrison and Alyssa Osborne all had assists for Badger (8-3-1).
Oakland sweeps YSU in Horizon opener

Oakland hit .292 as a team and got 17 kills from sophomore Melissa Deatsch to sweep the Youngstown State volleyball team in the Horizon League opener for both schools on Friday night. The set scores were 25-22, 25-18, 25-18. Youngstown State outhit Oakland .382 to .355 in the first set, but the Penguins hit .067 combined in the last two sets. There were 16 ties in the first set, and the largest margin was the final score.
YSU host Wright State today at 4 p.m.
Hornets’ Taylor banned from team activities
The Hornets have announced Jeffery Taylor will not be participating in any team-related activities while the NBA investigates the third-year forward’s arrest on domestic assault charges.
In a statement Friday, the Hornets said, “As an organization, we understand and appreciate the seriousness of this matter, and will assist the NBA and law enforcement in any way we can until this comes to an acceptable resolution.”
East Lansing Police said in a press release Thursday the 25-year-old Taylor has been charged with one count of domestic assault, one count of assault and one count of malicious destruction of property.
Rondo to miss time with broken finger
BOSTON
Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo is expected to miss six to eight weeks after undergoing surgery for a broken finger.
Rondo broke a finger on his left hand in a fall at his home Thursday night, the club announced. It gave no further details.
The four-time All-Star has been the subject of trade speculation. Danny Ainge, Boston’s president of basketball operations, has said he has no intention of trading Rondo but indicated the eight-year veteran can become a free agent after the coming season. Ainge also has said no one is untradeable.
