YOUNGSTOWN

Dale Ahlquist, president of the American Chesterton Society and host of EWTN series, “Apostle of Common Sense,” will speak on “St. Francis, St. Thomas and G.K. Chesterton” at 7 p.m. Oct. 4 at St. Dominic Church parish hall, 77 E. Lucius Ave. The program is presented by Warren G.K. Chesterton Society. Ddmission is $5. Reservations are not required. Light refreshments will be provided.

Valley Alive 2014

WEST MIDDLESEX, PA.

“Rise Up People of God” is the theme of Valley Alive 2014 planned from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 5 at West Middlesex High School, 3591 Sharon Road. Participants will be worship team and Pastor Matt Matthews from Touch Heaven in Canfield, Sweet Aroma Dance Ministry and Pastor Samuel Torres from The Movement. A cross walk is planned from 7 to 9 a.m. Oct. 4 to be led by Men’s Rally in the Valley. The walk will start at Shenango Valley YMCA and continue to Church of the Good Shepherd, both on Route 18. YOUNGSTOWN

Tthe Rev. Thomas Dyer will be administrator of St. Ann Parish, Sebring, effective Oct. 4. He was ordained May 24, 1969. He has served as parochial vicar at Regina Coeli Parish in Alliance, and pastor of St. Philip Neri Parish in Dungannon, St. James Parish in Waynesburg, St. Joseph Parish in Mogadore and St. Joan of Arc Parish in Canton. He currently serves as president of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Louisville, a position he will retain.

Also effective Oct. 4, the Rev. James Korda will be administrator of St. Stephen Parish in Niles. Father Korda was ordained June 23, 1979. He has served as parochial vicar at St. Joseph Parish in Canton, and St. Christine and St. Brendan parishes in Youngstown. Father Korda was pastor at Immaculate Conception Parish in Youngstown, St. Joseph Parish in Austintown, St. Rose Parish in Girard and administrator of St. Ann Parish in Sebring. He currently serves as pastoral director of the Catholic Television Network of Youngstown, a position he will retain.

Effective immediately, the Rev. Richard Murphy will be administrator of St. Mary Parish in Mineral Ridge. Father Murphy was ordained June 21, 1980. He has served as parochial vicar at St. Luke Parish in Boardman and on the faculty of Cardinal Mooney High School and Ursuline High School and pastor of St. Mary Parish in Mineral Ridge. He currently serves as president of Ursuline High School, a position he will retain.

Effectively immediately, Monsignor John Zuraw and the Rev. Edward Stafford have been appointed to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in McDonald. They will continue to serve as pastor and parochial vicar, respectively at St. Rose Parish, Girard.
