Church will offer spaghetti buffet

YOUNGSTOWN

Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church Social Hall, 252 E. Wood St., will be the location of a spaghetti dinner buffet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. The church is handicap accessible.

The menu will include meatballs, salad, bread and butter, cake, coffee and tea.

Dinners are $7 for adults and $4.50 for children 12 and under. Extra meatballs, pop or bottled water are 50 cents each. Takeouts will be available after the 8 a.m. Mass and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Quarts of chicken noodle soup, wedding soup, and vanilla and anise pizzelles will be for sale.

Italian cuisine event planned at church

YOUNGSTOWN

A dinner of Italian cuisine will be featured from 11:30 A.M. to 6 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 4 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 388 E. Midlothian Blvd.

Dine in or carry out. The food is by JAAM Concessions by Ed and the event is sponsored by the youth of the church. Those who have things to sell can rent a table for two days for $10.

Donations and proceeds are used to support Rise Up! 2014 ELCA youth gathering in Detroit.

ABW day to feature judge as speaker

CANFIELD

Network Council of Mahoning Valley is sponsoring ABW Day Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 12 at A la Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St. The event is to kick off the fall new member enrollment campaign.

Topics will be benefits of membership such as networking, education, leadership skills, fundraising for scholarships and regional and national recognition.

The speaker will be Judge Rob Rusu, who will talk about “What Probate Court does for you.”

The menu comprises Swiss chicken, roast pork, stuffed shells, sand trap potatoes, California vegetable medley, and cherries in the snow for dessert. The cost is $20 per person. Contact Shirley Pappagallo at 330-270-7997 for tickets. The reservation deadline is Oct. 6.

Scarecrow contest will take place in Oct.

SALEM

Salem Parks and Recreation Department and Salem Public Library will host a Scarecrow Contest for the Salem community with a kick-off informational program set for 10:30 a.m. Oct. 11 at the Salem Memorial Building, 785 E. State St. Learn about the history and purpose of scarecrows and the rules for entering your creation in the competition.

Registration to enter a scarecrow in the contest is required no later than Oct. 15 and may be completed online through Salem Public Library’s website at www.salem.lib.oh.us.

Scarecrow set-up will take place from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Oct. 18 in front of Salem Memorial Building and Salem Public Library. Judges will choose first, second- and third-place winners, which will be announced at 3 p.m.

Sauce and Songs will resume

YOUNGSTOWN

St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave., will begin its monthly Sauce and Songs from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 5.

Spaghetti dinners will be served for $8 for adults and $5 for ages 10 and under.

The concert will take place from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and will feature the 5:30 Collective playing sacred and other music. Donations are welcome for the concert.
