ASSOCIATIONS

American Association of University Women, Youngstown Branch, will meet at 10 a.m. Oct. 4 in the gathering room of Park Vista, 1216 Fifth Ave., Youngstown. After the continental breakfast and business meeting, Dr. Barbara Brothers, on behalf of the League of Women Voters, will speak about “November Ballot’s Voting Issues and Candidates.” Luanna Jacobs and Regina Jenkins will be the hostesses. Home Cemetery Association will meet at 3 p.m. Sunday at the cemetery at 1741 McCollum Road, Youngstown. In case of rain, members will be directed to the home of Donna Hageman.

Mill Creek Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association will meet at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St., Canfield. The speaker will be Attorney Shirley J. Christian, recently appointed by Gov. John Kasich to succeed Judge James C. Evans, who is retiring from Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. A brunch consisting of french toast sticks, ham and cheese strata, spinach quiche, sausage links, Canadian bacon, home-fried potatoes, assorted pastries, fresh fruit, orange juice, coffee and tea will be served. Campbell Memorial High School January and June Classes of 1950 will meet at noon Wednesday for lunch at Bedford Trails Golf Course.

Poland Center Homemakers will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Friendly’s in Poland.

LEAGUES

Boardman-Poland Junior Women’s League will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 6 at Glenellen Senior Living, 9661 Market St. Boardman. Plans will be finalized for the upcoming Downton Abbey Tea that will take place Nov. 15 at the Poland Library. The speaker will be from the Sojourner House. Hostesses are Margaret Cherol and Debbie Chop.

LIBRARY FRIENDS

Friends of the Poland Library will meet Oct. 7 at the library. There will not be a coffee hour at 9:30 a.m.; instead there will be a potluck luncheon. Members are to take a salad, fruit or casserole with a serving spoon. Betty Beelen will present a program on Croatia. Hostesses will be Mary Jane Backus, Loretta Bodnark, Rekha Dasai and Adele Webber. Donations of books, magazines, CDs and DVDs for the book cart are accepted at each meeting. New members are welcome.

St. Rose Quilting Group will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the parish house.

SINGLES

D.A.R.E. Singles Group, which meets at Disciples Christian Church, 565 Boardman-Canfield Road, Boardman, has planned the following: 7 p.m. Saturday, bowling at Boardman Lanes; 7 p.m. Monday, meet at Dairy Queen in Cornersburg for dessert; and 5 p.m. Tuesday, play boccie in Boardman Park, weather permitting.

SOCIETIES

SUPPORT GROUPS

Alzheimer Network Family Support Group will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Children’s Rehabilitation Center, 855 Howland-Wilson Road, Howland; and at noon Oct. 4 at Sunrise Assisted Living of Poland, 335 W.
