Police find heroin, pills

YOUNGSTOWN

Police found two bags of suspected heroin and 21 pills on a man during a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon.

Reports said officers pulled over a car at South Schenley and Upton avenues on the West Side about 5:15 p.m. for running a stop sign and asked the driver, Ryan Dunegan, 26, of Youngstown, if there was anything illegal inside.

Reports said Dunegan told police no and gave them permission to search the car. When he got out, an officer noticed a bulge in his shorts that was a cigarette pack. When Dunegan took the pack out of his shorts, a plastic bag fell to the ground that had a dose of suspected heroin inside, reports said.

There was also a dose of suspected heroin inside the cigarette pack and 21 oxycodone pills, reports said. Dunegan was taken to the Mahoning County jail on charges of possession of drugs/heroin and possession of drugs.

On ‘unauditable’ list

COLUMBUS

Greene Township, on the northern border of Trumbull County, has been placed on the “unauditable” list as a result of inadequate financial records, Auditor of State Dave Yost said Tuesday.

“Poorly kept books create a lack of accountability,” Yost said. “Greene Township must bring its records back to an auditable condition to complete the audit.”

During the course of the regular financial audit of Greene Township for the period Jan. 1, 2012, through Dec. 31, 2013, it was determined the condition of the township’s financial records were not adequate to complete the audit.

In a letter to the township, the auditor’s office provided a list of records required to complete the audit.

Within 90 days of the date of the letter, the township must revise its financial records and provide the necessary data. An entity is removed from the “unauditable” list once the audit is completed and released to the public.
