Traficant critical after tractor accident

Former Congressman Jim Traficant, was seriously injured in a farm accident on Tuesday, according to our broadcast partner 21 WFMJ-TV.

Police were called to a home on West South Range Road just before 8 p.m. Tuesday night and found an older style tractor had flipped onto him.

Authorities say it appears Traficant had been pulling the tractor into the barn, and likely hit a steel blade causing the tractor to flip over and trapping him underneath.

Crews were able to get Traficant out from underneath the tractor. He was taken to Salem Regional Hospital. Later, he was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Jim's wife, Tish Traficant, told WFMJ that her husband is alive, but is in critical condition.
