Mahoning commissioners award pact for Austintown road work

AUSTINTOWN — The Mahoning County commissioners today awarded a $325,526 contract for reconstruction of two deteriorated Austintown roads to Stateline Paving LLC of North Lima.

The roads to be rebuilt are Victoria East and East Webb roads. The project is being funded entirely by real-estate taxes paid by the new Austintown racino.

The casino at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course opened Wednesday; and horse racing will start there Nov. 24.

Victoria East Road runs from Ohltown Road to Victoria Road and provides alternative access to the Victoria Road industrial park, which contains several major warehouses and an Ohio National Guard armory.

East Webb Road runs west from Four Mile Run Road to a cul-de-sac at the interchange of Interstates 80 and 680 and state Route 11.

During their meeting at the Austintown Senior Center, the commissioners also awarded a $624,266 sanitary-sewer relining and rehabilitation contract for various locations to United Survey Inc. of Cleveland.
