An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper was seriously injured Saturday afternoon when his cruiser veered off Interstate 76 into the median and hit a traffic sign and then a tree. The trooper was traveling east at the time of the 2:30 p.m. crash, according to a release from OSHP. The trooper, who is not being identified, was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center. The cause is under investigation.

Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course had another jackpot winning Friday night. Angelica Santiago, 25, of Youngstown won $6,429 playing on one of the racino’s video-lottery terminals. She won playing on a Quick Hit Pro Triple Blazing 7s Free Game Fever. The biggest jackpot winning to date was on Hollywood Gaming’s second day of operations, Thursday, when a Cortland man won $20,000.

The Trumbull County NAACP will host a membership drive, celebrating 105 years of making a difference at 5 p.m. next Sunday. Hosts will be pastors Joseph and Kimberly Walker of Restoration Christian Fellowship, and the event will be at the former Rebecca Center, 760 Main St. The event will feature gospel singing group For Grace, the Restoration Christian Fellowship-RHEMA Youth and an ACTSO presentation by NAACP Youth. Special guests will be Jocelyn Travis of the Cleveland NAACP and Dr. Kimberly Jackson-Pinn, NAACP wellness chairwoman.
