Seminar for artists on obtaining money

A seminar titled “Show Me the Money! Finding Grants and Commissions” will be Oct. 1 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Raymond John Wean Foundation, 147 W. Market St. Free parking will be available in the Franklin Street parking deck.

The seminar is part of The Arts Mean Business, a four-part professional development series designed to help artists thrive financially.

“Show Me the Money!” will provide an overview of how artists can connect to benefactors for art project grants, commissions for public art and artist in residency placements.

The presenter will be Tricia Ostertag, community arts manager of Arts in Stark, a nonprofit organization in Stark County that awards grants, manages the Cultural Center for the Arts and runs the annual arts campaign.

The final workshop in the series will be “My Home Is in the Valley; My Work is Everywhere” on Nov. 5 at McDonough Museum of Art, 525 Wick Ave., Youngstown. Panelists James Pernotto and Donny Yallech will share their experiences as well as discuss the benefits and challenges they face in presenting their art nationally, regionally and locally. Moderator will be Cary Wecht, and facilitator will be Janus Small.
