Struthers man charged with child sex crimes

STRUTHERS

Bond for the 44-year-old Struthers man charged with three felony counts of unlawful sexual conduct involving a minor was set at $300,000, 10 percent cash or surety, due to the seriousness of the charge and his being a flight risk, when he appeared in Struthers Municipal Court this morning.

Christopher George, who lives on Fourth Street in Struthers, was arrested at his Youngstown workplace — the Ohio State Penitentiary — Wednesday afternoon by officers with the Struthers Police Department and agents with Attorney General Mike DeWine's Crimes Against Children Unit, a division of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation. The Mahoning County Sheriff's Office assisted with the investigation.

The child is a family acquaintance.

In court, George was found to be indigent, as he is no longer employed. He will be granted an attorney, and a preliminary hearing date will be set soon.
