STRUTHERS

A 44-year-old Struthers man is in the Mahoning County jail, charged with three felony counts of unlawful sexual conduct involving a minor.

According to a news release, Christopher George was arrested Wednesday afternoon by officers with the Struthers Police Department and agents with Attorney General Mike DeWine’s Crimes Against Children Unit, which is a division of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation. The Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation.

Police said George lives on Fourth Street in Struthers. He was arrested at work in Youngstown.

The release also states that George is accused of engaging in sexual conduct with a child under age 15 who is a family acquaintance.

“Our investigation found that this defendant was in a position of trust, which allowed him to victimize the child on more than one occasion,” said Jeff Lewis, a detective with the Struthers Police Department. “This case is an example of state and local law enforcement combining resources to protect Ohio’s youth.”
