Fitch volleyball defeats Warren

Austintown Fitch (3-6) volleyball defeated Warren Harding (0-6) on Sept. 15 with scores of 25-15, 25-5 and 25-15. Top players for Fitch were Sarah Obradovich (13 points, 13 kills, 8 assists, 7 aces, 14 digs), Natalie Lynn (16 points, 3 aces) and Katarina Lewis (12 assists, 8 digs).

Falcons to have “Kiss a Pig” fundraiser

The Austintown Fitch Falcon high school cross country team has been collecting funds for it’s “Kiss a Pig” fundraiser. The students nominated three coaches to go against one another to see who could collect the most money, and the winner will be kissing a pig at the Mahoning Country Meet, which will take place on Sept. 23 at the Austintown Township Park.

Girls golf defeated

The Austintown Fitch girls golf team was recently defeated by Boardman at Deer Creek Golf Course with a score of 155-186. Top players for Fitch were Jamie Rasor (43), Rebeca Castillo (45), Sam Tofil (47) and Alexis Saunders (51).

Austintown defeated by Mooney

On Sept. 11, Cardinal Mooney defeated the Austintown Fitch firls volleyball team 3-0 at Fitch with scores of 25-8, 25-18 and 25-2. Top players for Fitch were Sarah Obradovich with six kills and three assists, Katarina Lewis with six assists, Alyssa Spear with three aces and Keara Katcher with 19 digs.

Fitch grad scores well at college tournament

A 2014 Austintown Fitch graduate and Notre Dame College Freshman, Rachel Williamson, shot an opening round of 90 and a second day score of 88 at her debut tournament at the Mountain East Conference Fall Invitational, which took place at the 6,100-yard Indian Springs Country Club on Sept. 7 and 8. She placed second on her team and 15th overall. Notre Dame College placed second overall out of 10 schools competing.

Scholarship golf outing to be Sept. 20

The Parole Officer and Sigma Chi Eddie Cantor Second Annual Memorial Scholarship Golf Outing will take place on Sept. 20 at Knoll Run Golf Course, located at 1421 Coitsville Road in Lowellville. Registration is at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The cost is $65 per person and includes golf, a cart for two, doughnuts, lunch, dinner and skills contests. Sponsorships are available at $100 for the Silver Hole Sponsor (advertised on tee box), $300 for the Gold Sponsor (signage and tee box) and $500 for the Elite Sponsor (One team and all signage). Send golf registration and sponsorship request with check made payable to the Ed Canto Memorial Scholarship Fund to Rosemary Jones - Chairperson, 4510 Nantucket Dr., Apt. 6, Youngstown, OH 44515. Respond by Sept. 1. Reservations are limited and are on a first-come, first-paid basis.

It’s fall sports season. Neighbors wants to be there every step of the way. If you’re a summer sports coach or the parent of an athlete, we need you help. In order to get teams and players the recognition they deserve, we want to showcase them in our pages. We can only do that if you commit to sending us game reports and photos each week. If you send it, it will get in.
